Donna Thornton - 1932-2010
Donna Lee Thornton, 77 of Decatur died 9:05 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 in
Decatur Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday
January 11,2010 at the Salvation Army located at 229 W. Main Decatur, IL.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Monday also at the
Salvation Army. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made
to the Salvation Army.
Donna was born January of,1932 in Perrysburg, Ohio daughter of Glenn and
Elizabeth Catherine McKenzie Gee. She married Kenneth Thornton August of
1949 in Kentucky. He preceded her in death on May of 1979.
Surviving are her children; Carol Sue Kammerer and husband Larry of
Goreville, IL., Jesse Franklin Thornton and wife Marla of Arizona, Dorothy Jean
Vest and husband Bob, Kenneth O. Thornton Jr., Joe Allen Thornton and wife
Debbie all of Decatur, grandchildren; Braden, Misty, Kenny, Michael Thornton,
Heidi Hilliard, Roberta Vest, Brent Vest, Michael Combs, Bobby Combs,
Gretchen Kammerer, Shayla Hill, Greg and Alex Cunningham, 15 great
grandchildren, brother; Jimmy R. Gee of Decatur, very special niece; Mary
McLemore and husband Jack.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.
The family wishes to thank Dr’s Khan, Velasco, Sobol, Patel and past and
present staff of Heartland/Manor Care Center. A special thank you to Pastor
Ron Ferguson, Heather and Angel for taking care of our Mother.
