Carol Dean Raffety, 79 of Decatur died 4:22 p.m. Sunday (December 20, 2009)
in St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (Dec.30th)
at Galilee Baptist Church 3434 Christmas Tree Road Decatur, IL. 62526. Pastor
Mike Henderson will be officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Dec.
29th) also at the church. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery
Riverton, IL., with Military Rites by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials
may be made to the family C/O Joyce Raffety.
Mr. Raffety was born February 12, 1930 in Jacksonville, IL., son of Raymond and
Dora Smock Raffety. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He
worked as a mechanic. April 13, 1952 Carol Dean married Joyce Lee Ward.
Surviving is his wife Joyce, daughters, Shirley Raffety and Companion Scott
Baker, Rhonda Aten and husband Rex, Janna Lourash and husband Mike, son,
Jay Raffety and companion Tonya, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandkids and 2
great great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and
1 granddaughter. Carol was a great husband, father and grandfather. He was
loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
