Larry J. Mayberry, 53, died on November 18, 2009 at his home in Decatur, IL.
He was born on October 5, 1956 in Decatur, to Luther and Iris Mayberry. He
was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School. He attended Third United
Methodist Church, and more recently Life Foursquare Church in Decatur. He
volunteered for the United Way, March of Dimes and Junior Achievement. He
was a proud member of the Decatur Breakfast Sertoma Club. Larry was a
faithful and patriotic citizen who loved God, family, country and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be remembered and missed
by his wife, Cathy (Jury) Mayberry, daughter, Jeni Mayberry, son, Mike
Mayberry, granddaughter, Keeley Mayberry and grandson,Isaiah Lofton all of
Decatur, brother, Jay Mayberry and sister in law, Trease Mayberry of Long
Creek, brother and sister in law, Denny and Cindy Strohl of Mt. Zion, uncle and
aunt, Neil and Alta Jean Bergbower, mother in law,Virginia Jury, niece, Jessica
Mayberry, nephews, Nicholas Mayberry, Derek and Garrett Strohl and friends,
Kelly, Donna and Sean Higgins of Mt. Zion.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 21, 2009 at Life
Foursquare Church 2954 W. Ash Ave Decatur. Visitation with the family will be
one hour before service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to a
scholarship fund for community children in need will be accepted for the
Greater Decatur YMCA’s Camp Sokkia – a summer program instilling youth with
the YMCA’s core values – caring, respect, honesty and responsibility.
