James Gaylon Powell, 75 of Decatur died 2:30 p.m. Thursday (November 5,
2009)  in Lincoln Manor. Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday Nov. 9th
in North Fork Cemetery Long Creek Township, IL. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.
m. Monday at Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care, 3085 Kandy Lane,
Decatur.  Memorials may be made to
The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo.

James was born October 17, 1934 in Ohio County, KY., son of W. M. Milam
and Gertrude Crow Powell. He lived in Kentucky and Illinois. He was married to
Florence (Shorty) Challans. James later married Anna Pearl Powell on March
17, 1999 and spent ten wonderful years together.

Surviving are his sons; William Powell of Decatur, Darrell (Lisa) Powell of
Arcola, Michael Chaney of Texas, daughter; Sharon (Ray) Wright of Decatur.
Also surviving  step-son; Delbert Eugene (Donna) Powell of Cerro Gordo who
took care of him while in Lincoln Manor. Several grand and great
grandchildren; Danielle Marie Powell, Katy Jo Powell, David Powell and his
daughter Eleanor, Michael and Heather Powell and their children, Madelyn
Wolfe, Emily and Alaina Powell of Decatur, Lisa Powell and her son, Andrew
Lowery of Normal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Anna, sisters, Annie and Mary,
brothers, Hubert, Ernie, and William, sons, Odis Lynn and Terry Chaney, grand
daughter, Wendy.

A very special thank you to Cyn King Director of Nurses, and all the other
nurses, aides and staff who cared so much for Jim while he was in Lincoln
Manor. His smile always melted away ones troubles! Thanks for caring.

All of Jim’s grandchildren will miss him, but know Grandma Anna and he are
happy together.
